CEMETERIES. EXERCISE ON STRESS IN RUSSIAN NAMES
One of the most difficult things for foreign learners of Russian is to remember the stress in Russian family names and place names.
Below is a recording of a shortened version of the cemetery text on page 115, and a link to a pdf file with the shortened text for you to print out.
Before you listen to the recording, print out the text and use a pencil to mark in the stresses on the names that you think you know. Mark the stressed vowels with an acute accent.
Listen to the text, and correct your first efforts.
Then mark in any more stress marks that you can remember from the recording.
Listen again, correct where necessary, and continue the process until you have all the stress marks in the right place.
